Hair Straightening Guide

Hair Straightening Guide

Straightening your hair is one of the most dramatic ways to change your look. Going from a ball of uncontrollable frizz to sleek, manageable and shiny tresses makes hair straightening irons an essential part of the beauty kit and one of the most satisfying of beauty treatments.

To achieve best results follow these simple steps to hair straightening.

1. Before straightening you need to prepare the hair by using a mild PH neutral shampoo and an intensive conditioner. Women who regularly use straightening irons should invest in top quality deep conditioning treatments and heat protecting straightening serum.

2. Blot hair with a towel rather than rubbing. Aggressively rubbing will not only damage hair but also create a frizzy mess before you have even started. Take out the tangles with a wide tooth comb and smooth in some straightening/heat protecting product. Use your hairdryer on a mild heat and dry over a round brush to keep hair straight before using straightening irons.

3. Allow straightening irons to reach a heat of 230c degrees, a little higher if you have thicker or more coarse hair.

4. Divide hair with clips to make straightening easier and start working on 1-2 inch sections. Start as close to the scalp as possible and slide straightening irons to the tip. It may be necessary to go over section a couple of times.

Finish of by gently smoothing some finishing product on to your finished style. Too much product can make your hair look greasy, so put some on your palm, the heat generated by rubbing your hands together will make a little go along way.

Your new do should last for a few days as long as you avoid getting your hair wet and stay away from humid conditions.
