Mineral Foundations. Do they really work?

Foundations have been used by women for years, but often packed full of chemicals and leaving a heavy look, many women are now turning to mineral foundation. As one of the most natural forms of foundation, mineral foundation is alcohol free, chemical free and dye free. For women with sensitive skin, mineral foundations are fantastic as the natural ingredients make them much less likely to irritate the skin.
Most cosmetic companies now offer a mineral foundation, including Maybelline’s New York Pure Mineral foundation, a liquid foundation with a slight luminescent finish, great for giving you that radiant glow, as well as the Body Shop, Revlon, L’Oreal and Bare Ecsentuals, Bare Minerals.
With so many products on the market, it can be hard to know where to start! Bare Minerals is a fantastic mineral foundation that is the number one seller in the US! Unlike many mineral foundations, this formula is 100% mineral that also has an SPF15 to protect your skin. Gentle and soft for your skin, Bare Minerals offers a great sheer cover and natural look. Mac Minerals foundation range is named ‘Mineralize’ and comes in a powder, cream or liquid format. Known for their high quality cosmetics, the Mac Mineralize foundations have received mixed reviews. A good foundation but not necessarily with a natural look.
It is important to note that for a mineral foundation to be classed as such, it only needs to have a minimum content of 2% minerals. Therefore, many mineral foundations on the market may not be as good as they first sound. Our top tip is to check the ingredients very carefully. From my experience with mineral foundations, the best mineral foundation on the market is Bare Minerals. Not only 100% mineral unlike many other mineral foundations, this product leaves skin feeling fresh and light, safe in the knowledge no harsh chemicals have been applied to the face.
Mineral foundation is definitely the way forward!
